SYMPTOM(s):
Roll forward is taking abnormally long time to complete
Roll forward completes in several minutes
Large RAM size
Issue does not appear when using rfutil command from Progress 9.1E FCS
Output of truss -c on the roll forward process shows most processing time spent on calls to fdsync
CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Solaris 8 and unpatched versions of 9 and 10.
FIX:
To work around this OS bug, apply either of the following:
- upgrade the operating system
- use the rfutil command from a fresh installation of Progress 9.1E (without any service pack)
