Status: Unverified
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 2003
SYMPTOM(s):
prodb newdb %DLC%\empty
procopy %DLC%\empty newdb
SYSTEM ERROR: File <file-name> too small <length>, blocksize <blocksize> extend failed." (4524)
prodb or procopy command issued from a shared drive
After several prodb or procopy command issued, "newdb" is successfully created
CAUSE:
The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing.
FIX:
Have the database extents on local disks. The errors seen on prodb or procopy reflect problems for Progress executables to access the remote database files.
Should the database be started in multi-user mode, then such problem would generate an Abnormal Database Shutdown.
