FACT(s) (Environment):
ODBC DataServer
IBM AS/400 (RISC)
SYMPTOM(s):
Error 6194 with numeric fields via ODBC DataServer with DB2/400
SQL number has an unexpected format (6194)
The numeric field has value=40 [blank] in the DB2/400
Performed conversion using the Progress/400 to ODBC DataServer transformation tool
CAUSE:
The value 40 is invalid data on the numeric field, hence, causing the error 6194
FIX:
There are two ways to fix this issue:
1. Run a validator/fix program on DB2/400 and look for invalid data and replace with zero
ull depending on the table definition on the DDS allows null or not.
2. Dump the .d using Progress/400 Data Dictionary utilities and load the Data with ODBC DataServer Data Dictionary utility. You MUST have to allow the NULL on the table definition on the DDS else the load will fail.
