AIX 3.2.5 (7.3E Install from CD-ROM) Fails
AIX 3.2.5 ---- Installing 7.3E from CD-ROM will fail!!!
When trying mount the 7.3E CD (when running on IBM AIX 3.2.5) it will
successfully mount but because AIX 3.2.5 is NOT iso compliant you will
not be able to install Progress from that CD.
Once you have mounted the cd if you 'cd' to the /cdrom mount-point and
do a unix 'ls' command you will see all the proper files for the
installation BUT if you do a long listing ie 'ls -al' you will receive
an error.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/pmtai does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/pmtch does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/pmtur does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/probuild does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/proinst does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/proupdt does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/rmsclnt does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/syl0clnt deos not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/syl0ds does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/sybclnt does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/sybds does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/toolkt does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/tranman does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/uib does not exist.
ls: 0506-341 The file /cdrom/_ovrly does not exist.

So, when you go to run /cdrom/proinst another error will occur saying
that the proinst file does not exist.
Because IBM AIX 3.2.5 is not ISO compliant you will not be able to
install Progress 7.3E from the cd-rom. You will need to install
from another media type. ie 4mm.
