GOAL:
Is the defer-agent-startup value in the source.repl.properties file in minutes or seconds?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1A
FIX:
The default source.repl.properties indicates:
# defer-agent-startup - A non-zero value here instructs the Replication server to enter
# deferred agent startup mode. When in this mode, source database
# activity is allowed before any configured agent are connected to.
# The server will attempt to connect to its configured agents until
# the number of seconds specified expire.
# - 0 (zero) - Do no allow source activity before agent connection
# and attempt to connect to agent(s) once.
# - 1 - 1440 - Allow source activity before agent connection and
# attempt connection until the specified number of
# seconds expires.
The Fathom Replication documentation, on the other hand, indicates that this value is in minutes.
The documentation is correct: the defer-agent-startup property is in minutes. The discrepancy between the information contained in the documentation and what in the properties file has been logged as a bug which has since been corrected in OpenEdge 10.1B where the maximum value is now 10080 minutes.
