User disconnected after error 156 on a NUMA-Q (PTX4.4)
This kbase is directed at the problem associated with running progress
interactively after a rlogin/telnet session on the NUMA-Q.
NUMA-Q stands for NON UNIFORM MEMORYALLOCATION and the latest technolo
gy introduced by Sequent. The NUMA-Q is a 'traditional sequent port' i
n that ptx 4.4 was mofidifed slightly(tcp/ip implementation) to run on
the numa-q.
PROBLEM
when rlogin /telnet to the NUMA-Q running PTX4,4 and run progess inter
actively(pro) error received is
Redirection or piping of stdin or stdout is allowed only with -b.(156)
The user is disconnected after this error
This problem exists on the commercial release 7.3C04 and also on the
latest patch 7.3C15.
WORKAROUND
Set the OSTAT_CVT_RDEV kernel parameter and rebuild the kernel
