Changing the data extent structure of an area on a source database will not affect the rolling forward of AI files as long as the target has the proper space allocated.

Is it possible to change the data extent structure of an area on a source database and still roll forward AI files on the original target database?
GOAL:
Is it possible to change the data extent structure of an area on a target database and continue to roll forward AI files from the source database?
FIX:
Changing the number and/or size of the data extents on either the source, and/or the target database will not affect the rolling forward of the after image files. The target area must be large enough to accommodate the notes from the source.
