GOAL:
Is it possible to use IntelliMouse and the Flywheel program with Progress?
GOAL:
Using MS IntelliMouse and it's wheel with Progress
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
FIX:
IntelliMouse offers a "wheel" to be used as a browser and scrolling device in Windows 95 and NT. Unfortunately, very few applications provide native support for the IntelliMouse. Customers have been asking if the wheel is supported by Progress. Here is what has been gathered of information.
Genius-KYE has also released a mouse with a wheel but this is yet to be tested.
On Windows 2000:
----------------
Upgrading the standard Windows 2000 driver to the Intellimouse 4.1 driver enables the wheel.
On Other Windows versions:
--------------------------
Windows95 supports only two-button mouse's and needs extra drivers to use the extra button(s) some manufactures offers. These mouse button's are based on special WM_xxxx Window messages and therefore not picked up by Progress.
If you only install the supplied driver for the mouse, you will not be able to use the wheel, but there is a utility called FLYWHEEL that gives every application full usage of the wheel.
This utility can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.wiwi.uni-marburg.de/pub/wimm/tools/win_nt/flywhl.exe
or
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,23737,00.asp
This page also contains information on registering the product since it is no longer supported by "Plannet Crafters" (the original developers). The product is now free and can be registered with the name "I Am Free" and the registration number: 13601409
Kindly remember that Progress will not support any issues if problems are encountered in downloading or using the Flywheel program.
