How to fix OEA errors generated after installing a 3rd party plug-in?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.1x
OpenEdge 10.2x
Windows
FIX:
After installing the OpenEdge Architect service pack or any 3rd party plug-in, you may get errors when you access certain functions like DB Navigator, or new functionality may not be accessible. To prevent these errors, launch the OpenEdge Architect with the -clean argument.
The -clean argument forces OpenEdge Architect to re-read all of the installed plug-in definitions rather than using its cached representation. It is therefore recommended to use the -clean argument at start-up for every one of your workspaces after any installation change including service packs. Using -clean increases the start-up time; so it is not recommended that this option be used when not necessary.
From OpenEdge 10.1B, an OpenEdge Architect Clean icon has been added to the OpenEdge startup folder with the -clean parameter already added.
To use the -clean startup parameter manually:
1. Modify the properties of the OpenEdge Architect launch menu and at the end of the Target, add a space followed by the -clean argument.
i.e. <OpenEdge Install>\oeide\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm "<OpenEdge Install>\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -clean
Where:
<OpenEdge Install> designates the OpenEdge 10.1x installation directory
2. Start OpenEdge Architect and switch to each of the workspaces in use.
3. The -clean argument can now be removed from the properties.
