SYMPTOM(s):
All users are being prompted for a userid and password for the database.
Security is being used by the application but they do not make use of the _User table.
Prompting user for userid and password when connecting to the database is not wanted.
Cannot login with an account that the user believes is a valid account.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Can access the database using the blank user id (pressing F4 on the login screen).
Blank user id is able to access the database and view Tools -> Dictionary -> Admin -> Security -> User Report to locate a valid User ID
Validated that users were added to the _User table.
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CHANGE:
Users were added to the _User table.
CAUSE:
When users are added to the _User table for any purpose, 4GL users will then be prompted for a userid and password to access the database.
FIX:
Access the database as a valid user and remove all users from the _User table.
To remove users from the _User table go to the Edit User list and delete the user.
UNIX:
Press F3 to get to the menu, Select Tools -> Dictionary -> Admin -> Security -> Edit User List
Windows/PC:
Tools -> Data Administration -> Security -> Edit User List
