SYMPTOM(s):
Sending SNMP traps from Fathom to Netview fails with Trap found with no known format in trapd.conf(4)
Tivoli NetView does not recognize SNMP trap definitions sent by Fathom Management
PSC-FM-MIB.txt has been modified as per solution P99716
The PSC-FM-MIB.txt file has been successfully loaded into NetView by using MIB loader
FACT(s) (Environment):
Fathom Management 2.x
Fathom Management 3.x
CAUSE:
NONE of the MIB loader tools - V1 / V2 / Web loaders / native GUI loaders - load TRAPs (NetView FAQ) - so the trap definitions have not been actually loaded into trapd.conf
FIX:
Use mib2trap utility, in order to import content of PSC-FM-MIB.txt file into trapd.conf.
1) deploy PSC-FM-MIB.txt file to NetView machine
2) run "mib2trap PSC-FM-MIB.txt fathom.sh(bat)" - .sh/.bat extension depends on UNIX/Windows, which will create fathom.sh(bat) containing "addtrap" command, plus trap's definition
3) run ./fathom.sh (fathom.bat) in order to load trap definitions into trapd.conf
4) restart NetView services
Netview is now ready to correctly receive SNMP traps from Fathom Management.
NOTE: PSC-FM-MIB.TXT can be found at %FATHOM%\config
