SYMPTOM(s):
Users get disconnected when the administrator logs out of the server.
Database started with: proserve \\machine-name\directory\db-name\ - S xxxx - H <remote host> - N TCP
Administrator is logged in to remote machine A where Progress is installed, starting a database on machine B on a mapped drive
When the administrator who ran the proserve command logs out the database is no longer accessible.
CAUSE:
It is a Windows behavior that makes the database inaccessible when Administrator has logged out, because when a user logs off from windows - all processes not start as a service will die.
FIX:
Use AdminServer and Progress Explorer to control the remote database.
