GOAL:
Important Information to all customers running on Progress 9.1E03 & OpenEdge 10.0B04
FIX:
Dear Valued Customer and Partner:
A potentially serious issue has been discovered in the Progress® Version 9.1E03 and in Progress OpenEdge 10.0B04 service pack releases. This problem surfaces when records are deleted from the _user table, as one might typically do when removing a user?s access to an application. The next time a user tries to connect to the database, the RDBMS may crash. Subsequent attempts to open or recover the crashed database will fail.
Note that the database is not corrupted and all data remains valid.
A fix has been developed for the defect, and will be made available in service packs very soon, for both releases, once they have been fully tested. Until that time, please avoid deleting users from the _user table.
For more details on this issue, please refer to this solution
P114618, "Getting error 49 when starting a database after deleting users from user table in Progress 9.1E03 & OE 10.0B04"
