Below is the compatibility chart for Client/Server compatibility between messenger and WebSpeed broker. Any combination that is not on the chart is not supported.
Note: client on the left within the same frame can connect to server on the right within the same frame, for example, 3.1C messenger can connect to 10.0A transaction server, and 10.0B messenger can connect to 3.1C transaction server.

Administration of a server is associated with the server itself and therefore they must be the same version. Hence, the Administration tools associated with the Transaction Server (including the Progress Explorer, and Admin Server used to administer the Transaction Server) must be the same version as the Server Version listed in the chart above.
9.1E Transacti.on Server will work with the previous 9.1B NameServer.
A 9.1E Transaction Server can work with a 9.1A NameServer, as long as the new functionality of the 9.1E NameServer is not attempted with the 9.1A NameServer.
In addition, a 3.1E WebSpeed Messenger is compatible with the previous 9.1B NameServer.
