Webspeed2.x: Distributed Config. Service: Local vs. Remote
WebServer & Messenger Machine:
Messenger configuration - when you go to configure your messenger a
key point to keep in mind is that you must indicate that your Service
Location will be remote. To do this on the page tabbed General there
is the option Service Location (Local or Remote) you must select
Remote. This will indicate that your Service(Broker) will reside on a
different machine. At this point you must also indicate the Host name
of that networked machine along with the port number where it will be
listening on.
Transaction Server Machine:
Server(Broker) configuration - when you go to the machine or machines
that your Transaction server is installed on you should indicate the
Service Location is local. This is configured in a manner so that we
know that the Service(Broker) is local to this machine.
**Possible Problem you may encounter:
If you go to the machine where your Transaction server was installed
and you need to set up the service location as "Local" but it is
grayed out and it is forcing you to select the location as remote, ask
"What type of installation was done, Quick or Custom?" If they
selected a custom install suggest that they go back and reinstall the
transaction server and this time select a quick install.
