SYMPTOM(s):

Error attempting to connect to replication source database in single user mode

Access to database <dbname> not allowed. The database is enabled for site replication but either replication is not running, or this process is not authorized to open a replication enabled database. (10356)

FACT(s) (Environment):

Fathom High Availability Replication 1.0A
Fathom High Availability Replication 2.0A
All Supported Operating Systems

CAUSE:

Single user mode connections are not allowed in those Fathom versions.

FIX:

Upgrade to Fathom High Availability Replication 3.0A or Fathom High Availability Replication 10.0B.

In these later versions of the product, it's possible to connect to a replication source database in single user and modify it. Changes will be replicated to the target database once the database server and the replication server are started up again.
When modifying the database in single user, please keep in mind that after-image extents are used up and cannot be re-used by marking them as empty, therefore it's best to keep database modifications to a minimum.
