GOAL:
Explanation of Novell Netware for SAA product and AS/400
FACT(s) (Environment):
Novell Netware
Progress/400 DataServer
FIX:
Netware for SAA is a strategic product for both Novell and IBM. It provides seamless integration of IBM PC Support/400 clients with Netware LANs. Using Netware for SAA, Netware clients can access the AS/400 from anywhere in a Netware network - even across Novell routers.
Netware for SAA replaces IBM's PC/Support router, which requires 58K of RAM, with its own router which requires only 5K of RAM. It utilizes SNA APPC protocol.
The PROGRESS/400 client server works with Netware for SAA. With the PROGRESS MS-Windows client, it uses the Host Name (-H) startup parameter to specify the AS/400 system name.
