Report Builder - possible cause misformatted reports
Scenario: You create a report in Report Builder that has "freeform"
defined under Properties -> Band Line Properties. By default, this
is set to "inches" as the units of measurement. You save the report
into a library (.prl).
Later, you open this report on another machine, or on your own, to
find that the spacing of everything in the report is completely
different then you had specified in the creation. Most often, the
report will appear "stretched" over a much greater area than
orginally had been defined.
How do you restore your report to the proper dimensions?
1. Highlight all of the band lines in your report.
2. In the option bar above, select Properties.
3. Select Band Line Properties from the menu.
4. Where your "Height" property is set to "Freeform",
set the selection to "POINTS".
NOTE: The point size should be set to the size of the largest
font in your report.
You may ask: Why is this happening? The freeform, set to inches
can effect the video driver and thereby the appearence of the
report.
NOTE 2: The same sort of problem can happen with printing.
