HP/UX 10.01 vs 10.10 and 10.20 in regards to CDROM Install
HP/UX 10.01 vs 10.10 and 10.20 in regards to CDROM Install
Explanation for why there is a different mount command that is used
when installing Progress on either 10.01 vs. 10.10&10.20 from CDROM.
HP/UX 10.01 Mount command
mount -F cdfs -r device-name mount-point
HP/UX 10.10 and 10.20 Mount command
mount -F cdfs -r -o cdcase device-name mount-point
The reason for having two HP/UX images is that 10.01 is NON-ISO
compliant and 10.10+ is ISO compliant. If the incorrect mount
command is used on HP/UX 10.10+ all the files would be displayed in
uppercase. This would be the same scenerio if you used the incorrect
mount command for HP/UX 10.01. You would also see a .1 extension at
the end of each file name.
To prevent this from happening a different mount command is used and
it allows the image to be displayed in lowercase letters. If by
chance you use the incorrect mount command (ie 10.01 mount command
when you are running on 10.20) then will still be able to issue the
proinst command for the mount command that you used. The files are
identical regardless of whether you are running HP/UX 10.01 or 10.10+.
The whole issue and reason for the two sets of images is due the fact
that hpux10.01 is non-ISO compliant where hpux10.10+ is ISO compliant.
