What is LAN Fast Path?
LAN Fast Path (LFP) is a new communications protocol for the AS/400
that was developed jointly by IBM and Progress Software. LFP is based
on the Physical and Data Link Control layers of the SNA model. It
cuts out much of the overhead currently experienced when using SNA
today on the AS/400 in a client/server configuration. Initial tests
have shown this new protocol to be 2.5 times faster that SNA.
LFP will be packaged along with the current SNA protocol support in
the 6.2Mx version of PROGRESS/400. Either or both protocols can be
utilized by the PROGRESS client.
