SYMPTOM(s):
Error 5192 on the client after installing MSN Messenger 7.5
Unable to find server <name> with protocol TCP in file SERVICES or SERVICES file not found in expected location. (5192)
CAUSE:
MSN Messenger 7.5 troubleshooter renames some parameters in the registry which afect the TCP parameters, one of these parameters is the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip\Parameters\DataBasePath which is recreated with a data type REG_SZ
FIX:
Delete the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\tcpip\Parameters\DataBasePath value and create it as REG_EXPAND_SZ, See solution P101271 "Remote Windows Client connection fails with error 5192" for additional information.
