IBM 8MM / 4MM tape install - variable size block 0 error

The IBM RS6000 8MM and 4MM tapes for PROGRESS Version 6.3 and 7 have a
block size of 0 (zero), which on the IBM indicates a variable length
block.

However, PROGRESS 6.2L releases have a block length of 1024.

If you are having trouble reading the 6.3 and 7 8MM and 4MM tapes,
follow these steps:

1) Run /etc/smit.
2) Choose Devices.
3) Choose Tape Devices.
4) Choose Change/Show Characteristics of a Tape Device.
5) Select the 8MM or 4MM tape device.
The block size is clearly marked on your screen. If it is not set
to 0 (zero), change it to 0.
6) Read the tape again.

Also, because the block sizes are different in 6.2L and 6.3, you may
be able to read the 6.2 tape but not the 6.3 tape.
