FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
SYMPTOM(s):
Error when attempting to configure the ODBC Datasource.
Unable to see recently installed ODBC driver in ODBC Data Source Administrator.
ODBC driver not listed in Drivers Tab within ODBC Data Source Administrator
Successive attempts to install/reinstall the drivers does not resolve the issue.
Registry keys display appropriate entries for drivers.
CAUSE:
Default value is set to an empty string.
FIX:
Perform the following steps:
1. In the windows registry editor tool ( regedit.exe ), open the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBD Drivers
2. Look for an entry in this key whose name is
(Default)
3. The value of this entry should be
(value not set)
4. Right-click on "(Default)", select "Delete" from the drop-down menu and click "Yes" to confirm that you wish to delete this value.
5. Correct value of entry will be set to "(value not set)"
6. Uninstall and reinstall ODBC drivers.
