FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1C
SYMPTOM(s):
ADD-CALC-COLUMN method behaves differently in 9.1C when compared to later versions such as 9.1D, 9.1E and OpenEdge 10.
Adding a column to a dynamic browse repeatedly in 9.1C after re-opening the associated dynamic query produces a new column every time. This produces several redundant columns in the browse that have previously been used, but are no longer necessary. The problem is caused when the query handle is attached to the browse, e.g.
hBrowse:query = hQuery.
In Progress versions after 9.1C the columns are re-used.
CAUSE:
Unknown.
FIX:
The latter behavior is more correct so any code that has been implemented to remedy this situation should be removed.
