TLI and System V.4 networking: lmx and Portable NetWare
920323-elp01The full implementation of TLI under UNIX System V.4 allows
PROGRESS to use networking without concern for the specific
hardware or protocol being used. This is true for all
networks that conform to the TLI standard AND to System V.4
name-to-address mapping standards (using the /etc
etconfig
file). If the network itself does not conform to the
standards, then PROGRESS can't "plug and play".
Among those systems that do not support the System V.4
name-to-address mapping rules are lmx and Portable NetWare.

PROGRESS documentation will be revised to clarify the
status of TLI support in future editions.
Currently only netbios is supported with Portable Netware
