FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
For Progress 9, probuild is used to build customized executables.
The ProBuild utility should be executed on the ?Minimum OS Level?; the resultant custom binaries can be deployed to any of the supported OS levels.
For instance ProBuild is not supported on Red Hat EL 3.0 ? Customers should use ProBuild under Red Hat EL AS 2.1 and then deploy to Red Hat EL 3.0 or Novell SuSE Enterprise.
For Progress OpenEdge, there are two platforms for certification, following are definition of Certification Types
Build Platform: This OS edition is used for the compilation and building of the OpenEdge binaries. Custom binary creation using OpenEdge Build Scripts should be performed using this Operating System.
Certification Platform: This OS edition has been tested using the binaries from the Build Platform.
The concept is the same for OE build customers. the OE build scripts shoud be performed on the build platform, the resultant custom binaries can be deployed to any of the supported certification platforms.
