FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 9.1D
SYMPTOM(s):
Error (4966) during database startup
This version of PROGRESS does not support Asynchronous Page Writers (proapw). (4966)
Progress Explorer used to start database
CHANGE:
Downgraded from Enterprise to Workgroup licence
CAUSE:
APW can only be run with an Enterprise licence. When the downgrade from Enterprise to Workgroup licence was carried out, APW can no longer be started. However, prior to the downgrade, APW had been in use, and there were the corresponding entries in the conmgr.properties file. Progress Explorer reads this file when it starts up, so tries to start APW.
FIX:
Check the configuration for that database in %DLC%\properties\conmgr.properties. There is an entry for the number of asynchronous page writers.
Comment this out or delete it - Progress Explorer will no longer try to start the APW for that database, and the 4966 should then no longer appear.
