SYMPTOM(s):
AdminServer will not start after reboot of server
Shut down the server without shutting down any Progress processes
No admsrvc.exe process running in task manager
The services.exe file is taking up 56% of CPU
The winmgmt.exe file is taking up 44% of CPU
Set Progress AdminService to manual
No CPU cycles available to work in system.
Reboot of server has no affect.
Some services that are set to automatic do not have a status
Unable to end task on either services.exe or winmgmt.exe files
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
CAUSE:
The services.exe and winmgmt.exe files use up all CPU time as they try to start the hung service(s)
FIX:
Kill the hung services.
