How to set up Lan Work Place for DOS 4.0-4.2 with v6 or v7
In order to run PROGRESS v6 and v7 in a DOS environment when running
LAN Workplace for DOS versions 4.0, 4.1 or 4.2, do the following -
* Enter SET PRONCS=%DLC%\PROLWP.EXE. If you do not, PROGRESS
generates the following error message -
get_ipc : get_ipconfig: co error rpcglue: proncs not resident.
* Enter SET EXCELAN=C:\LWP40, that is, set it to the directory where
LWP installed. This directory must contain a TCP subdirectory
with the hosts, services, networks and protocol files.
If the EXCELAN variable does not point to the directory where LWP is
installed, PROGRESS generates the following error message -
Unable to find protocol "tcp" in /etc/protocols. (776)
To start up your PROGRESS session, enter the following -
_pprogrs <db> -H unixhost -S service -N tcp
Or to connect to a database enter the following -
CONNECT <db> -H unixhost -S service -N tcp
