How to set up Lan Work Place for DOS in Windows

Check for the following to set up LAN Work Place for DOS Versions 4.0
4.1, and 4.2 on Microsoft Windows:

* The [386ENH] section of your system.ini file contains the following
line.

DEVICE=VTCPIP.386

* The LWP.ini file is in the same directory as your system.ini file.

* In the [LANWorkPlace] section of the LWP.ini file include the line,
ROOT=f:\lwp41. This is where LanWorkPlace is installed.

* The \lwp41 must have a \TCP subdirectory containing your services,
protocol, networks, and hosts. These files should be FTP'd over
from UNIX to prevent any typos.

Note: (6/10/97) if your \TCP directory isn't immediately
under the \lwp41 directory you might have to modify the ROOT=
to point to the location of the tcp directory.
ex: ROOT=f:\lwp41\net\tcp

If the lwp.ini file does not point to the TCP subdirectory, PROGRESS
generates the following error message.

Unable to find protocol "tcp" in /etc/protocols. (776)

To start LAN Work Place, type the following command:

_prowin <db> -S servicename -H unixhost -N tcp

* The default maximum number of TCP sockets is eight. This will allow
connections to seven databases at most. If you antecipate need for
more than 7 databases or combination of PROGRESS remote connections
with other TCP applications, add the tcp_sockets parameters to your
net.cfg file, giving it a number at least one greater than the
combined # of simultaneous TCP connections that are going to be
established.
