GOAL:
Is there a Windows equivalent of the UNIX kill command?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
FIX:
There is a kill.exe (Task Killing Tool) available for Windows.
Depending on the Windows version, the user will have to install the kill.exe in system32.
o On Windows 98 and Windows NT, install the according Windows Resource Kit
o On Windows 2000, install the Windows 2000 Support Tools.
o On Windows XP and 2003 Server, it has been replaced by TaskKill.exe, which is in %windir%\system32.
Otherwise, such tool can also be downloaded from the Sysinternal web site: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/PsTools.html
