According to the Progress Deployment Guide, it is possible to build a customized installation with InstallShield or another external tools , so Progress silent batch installation can be called before installing the application.
In theory it is possible to build a customized Progress installation, where some of the directories wouldn't be included, and the registry updates (in case of Windows installation) would be made accordingly, however Progress can't support such type of installation since it is not guaranteed that problems will come up due to this non-standard installation method.
