FIX:
No, currently there is no way to suppress the generation of the DataServer log file. However, one can specify the -Dsrv qt_no_debug switch so that the DataServer does not print debugging information that it generates for queries to the dataserv.lg file. It will still write out standard logging messages to the log file though.
