GOAL:
Can an AI extent switch as a result of proquiet be prevented?
GOAL:
Can an after image extent switch be prevented when using the proquiet command?
FIX:
The designed behaviour of proquiet will force an AI extent switch. This is to ensure the new ai file notes relate to any actions from the proquiet disable forwards.
The proquiet utility was enhanced beginning in Progress 9.1E02, OpenEdge 10.0B03, and 10.1A to support a quiet point that stops all write activity in the database within 15 seconds without requiring a latch. This enhanced proquiet does not switch the ai file automatically. Please refer to Progress Solution P112492, "What is Proquiet nolock?" for further details.
An alternate method of taking a database backup without forcing an aimage switch is to use the -norecover option with probkup offline. Please refer to the Database Administration Guide and Reference for furthe information.
