8.2B Oracle Release Notes - September 1997
The following comprise a list of performance enhancements for the
Oracle Dataserver for 8.2B.
o The Oracle Dataserver now uses bind variables for dates. This
will reduce the number of oparse/obndr/odefine calls. It will
also decrease the number of cursors being used by reusing the
available cursors.
o The dataserver now correctly uses showdown columns for
case-insensitive indexed fields that participate in a join
by the server.
o For select lists that use more than 32KB for a single table or
more than 16KB for a joined table; the dataserver will use a
no-lookahead cursor.
o The dataserver now supplies Oracle hints for UPDATE and DELETE
SQL statement.
