FYI Motorola 88K installation problem
The intent of this kbase is to indicate the error encountered
when attempting a specific installation of Motorola binaries
on an inappropriate operating system level.
Installing the latest version of Progress 6 (6.3C Motorola 88K,
media id 108) or any Progress 7 (Motorola 88K, media id 108),
on a Motorola 88K running the older, non-qualified os version..
UNIX SYSTEM V/88 Release r32.V3
results in the following error message during the cpio process..
"cpio empty or invalid cpio file, bad header".
The system command - "uname -as" should be used to verify that
the correct returned value be equivalent to..
UNIX SYSTEM V/88 Release 4
The last Progress release that was issued to run under the former
environment is Progress 6.2N.
