Actuate Viewer Deployed
INTRODUCTION:
============
As referenced in Knowledge Base entry #17269 more and more customers
find themselves not being able to simply copy the VIEWER.EXE as
stated in the Actuate Manual - "Using Reports - Developer Workbench"
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
=========================
End users must be able to work with pre-created reports.
PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
===================
The VIEWER.EXE can NOT be distributed by simply copying the file as
stated in the manual. The distribution requires the COMPLETED
installation of the Viewer from the CD or the set of 9 diskettes
(which can be created from the CD).
To create the disks you will need to copy the 9 directories
(Disk1 - Disk9) from the Viewdisk parent directory on the CD to
the individual diskettes. These diskettes can be used to install
the Viewer on UNLIMITED number of PC's.
One other alternative is to copy the CD onto a network file server
and run the SETUP.EXE from there.
