GOAL:
Can a Progress database be opened up against one Progress version and then another?
GOAL:
Is there any risk in opening a database up with a higher Progress version and then a lower Progress version ?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
FIX:
A Progress database be opened up against one Progress version and then another, as long as the following conditions are met:
1.) The Progress versions in question are the same major release, eg: Progress 9.1D, Progress 9.1E
2.) The DLC and PATH environment variables to point to the correct install directory for each product. The same applies if scripts are in use to start, stop, connect to the database.
3.) The machine which has had these Progress Versions installed on, supports both Progress Versions.
4.) The database is first properly shut down against the one version, truncated in that version, before being started against the other.
