SYMPTOM(s):
The string value disappears from registry after WebClient application has been uninstalled
The string value defined under HKLM\Sofware\Vendor is removed when uninstalling WebClient application
Only 1 WebClient application was installed on the machine
CAUSE:
This is an expected behavior - as the currently uninstalled application was the only WebClient application present on the machine, the whole content of HKLM\Sofware\Vendor has been removed by the uninstall process
FIX:
Define a new key under HKLM\Sofware\Vendor and put your string value under this key. WebClient (application) uninstall will consider this as another WebClient application is still present on the system, and the HKLM\Sofware\Vendor subtree won't be removed.
