Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to install Progress 9.1E on SuSe
Unable to install Progress 9.1D on SuSe
Installation stopped after providing JDK and JRE home paths
Using the SUN Java provided by the SuSe installation
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1E
Progress 9.1D
SuSe Linux 8.0
CAUSE:
The Progress Installation and Configuration Guide for UNIX recommends using the supported Java version provided by SUN with all Linux platforms. Even though the Java version provided by the SuSe installation is the correct one, it does not have the same directory structure as SUN?s standard directory. Due to the directory structure differences, all the files required by Progress are not found by the Progress installation process.
FIX:
If this has not already been done, download a supported version of Java from the SUN site and set JAVAHOME to point to this version of Java and then install Progress. SUN's Java can be obtained by going to the following site; http://www.sun.com/download/index.jsp?cat=Java%20%26%20Technologies&tab=3&subcat=Java
