GOAL:
How does Progress dataserver for ORACLE interact with the query optimization methods for the ORACLE database?
FIX:
The ORACLE cost-based optimization method is generally the more accurate and effective of the two types of optimization for the ORACLE database. From the Progress side, query optimization (tuning) is covered in the DataServer for ORACLE Guide. Please refer to that - irrespective of whether rule-based or cost-based optimization is done, that section provides information on best practices for designing queries which should run via the dataserver.
