GOAL:

Progress 9.1E support for NFS on Linux

FACT(s) (Environment):

Linux Intel
Progress 9.1E

FIX:

This document details the support of the Network File System (NFS) protocol version 3 (NFS3) under the Linux Intel x86 platform for Progress RDBMS files.
RDBMS data integrity under NFS3 Linux requires updates and features found within the 2.4.21 Linux Kernel.
As of 10.1B the Common Internet File System (CIFS) protocol is not supported by Progress Software OpenEdge products. iSCSI support is available beginning with the OpenEdge 10.1A release.
Progress V9 Linux x86 support matrix:

Linux Distribution Default kernel Kernel for NFS3 support

Red Hat AS 2.1 2.4.9_e30 Not supported
Red Hat Enterprise 3.0 2.4.21_4 2.4.21_20.EL (update pack 3)
Red Hat Enterprise 4.0 2.6.9_5 2.6.9_5.EL
SuSE Enterprise Server 8 2.4.19 2.4.21 (service pack 3)
SuSE Enterprise Server 9 2.6.5-7.97 2.6.5-7.97

For NFS3 support the following Progress service packs is required:
Progress 9.1E01
NFSv2 and NFSv4 have not been certified and are not supported. Red Hat Enterprise Linux uses NFSv4 by default, (if the server supports it).
