GOAL:

Can WebClient be configured to auto-update when upgrading from 9.1 to Release 10?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems

FIX:

Upgrading the WebClient executables from 9.1 to release 10 can be automated. Your will have to generate a new version of the WebClient application using the WebClient Assembler. Under the WebClient tab change the line "WebClient Version(s)" to reflect the new version of WebClient you wish to use. On the same tab make certain the "WebClient Install URL:" is pointing to the new version of the WebClient executable installation files. An upgrade to Release 10 will require recompiling all the .r code so new application cab files will also need to be generated. Be certain to test this type of deployment before going live to avoid any unexpected issues.
