Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Report builder hangs/crashes after startup
Error "The Report Builder has detected that the SQL-engine has shut down"
Progress installed via Netsetup
DLC folder is at the root of mapped drive
DLC value is listed as "<drive letter>:" for example "Z:" in the Registry
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.1C
Progress 9.1D
Progress 9.1E
CAUSE:
Bug# 20020114-029
FIX:
Upgrade to OpenEdge 10.0A or later.
To resolve the issue in earlier versions, use one of the following suggestions:
1) Do not have DLC at the root of the mapped drive but one level up, i.e. instead of "Z:" use "Z:\PROGRESS"
2) Add a back slash "\" to the DLC value in the Registry, i.e. instead of "Z:", use "Z:\". This should be changed in the following locations in the Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PSC\PROGRESS\<PROGRESS VERSION>\Startup
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PSC\PROGRESS\<PROGRESS VERSION>\Startup
