SYMPTOM(s):
Scandinavian extended characters do not display correctly when read from XML file
Characters such as 'ä', 'ö', and 'å' do not display correctly when read from XML file
CAUSE:
The XML file is defined with the UTF-8 code page, but the characters have been entered with Notepad using the 1252 code page. Subsequently the entered hex values for the characters are wrong.
For the characters 'ä', 'ö', and 'å', the 1252 values stored in the XML file are E4, F6 and E5. When in fact they should be using the muti byte UTF-8 values of C3 A4, C3 B6 and C3 A5.
FIX:
Modify the XML file values to use the correct UTF-8 hex values. This can be done by copying and pasting from the Windows Characters Map tool instead of using Notepad.
