PROUTIL CONV68 for version 6.2 - doc bug in Migration Guide
V6.2 -> V8 DATABASE CONVERSION
There are two ways to convert a V6.2 database to V8:
1) PROUTIL CONV68 and
2) dump/load
These are the same two ways as for V6.3.
The V8 Migration Guide indicates that only the dump/load method should
be used for version 6.2 conversions. This is incorrect and a doc bug
has been logged.
There are however two exceptions regarding CONV68 that should be
noted:
1) DOS 6.2 -> 8.2A+ - 8.2A is based on NT which has a 4K blocksize
so the dump/load method is required for DOS
6.2 databases, and
2) SEQUENT 6.2 or 6.3 -> 8.0B+
- The V6 Sequent products used a 2K blocksize.
The V8 product has a 1K blocksize. CONV68
works here with V8.2 because of the variable
blocksize feature introduced in V8.2.
