SYMPTOM(s):
Prorest fails with errors
SYSTEM ERROR: Error reading backup header (1057)
SYSTEM ERROR: Read of <backup device> failed, errno <n> (1052)
SYSTEM ERROR: Read of <backup device> failed, errno 5 (1052)
Using dd to read the tape gave an error dd: 0511-051
CAUSE:
The device configuration for the tape device on the restore system differs from the device configuration on the backup system.
The blocking factor is not the same.
FIX:
When restoring a tape on a different machine, make sure the device configurations are identical or as close to identical as possible.
Differences in device configuration can cause errors.
