GOAL:
How to use OS-COMMAND in MS-DOS mode with 8.2A.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 8.2A
Windows 95
FIX:
OS-COMMAND in MS-DOS mode with 8.2A
Progress 8.2A uses, by default, the command.com in the install root of Windows95. This is in the case where Windows is installed on C: c:\command.com . Windows 95 uses the command.com from the Windows directory . If this directory is c:\w95 then it uses c:\w95\command.com .
This can be verified by clicking on the MS - picture in the left upper corner of the DOS box after calling it for Progress e.g with the command dos and for Win95 with the following way : start -> Programs -> MS-DOS Prompt. If command.com Progress uses is in MS-DOS mode, then the following message appears:
"This program is set to run in MS-DOS mode and cannot run while other programs are running. All other programs will close if you choose to continue. Do you want to continue? Yes NO ."
To solve the problem choice : Start -> Programs -> Windows Explorer -> then look for the Command MS-DOS Application -> click with the right mouse button on it -> Properties -> Program -> Advanced, where you will see the MS-DOS mode check box is turned on . Turn it off and click on the OK Button.
