Hang on AT & T - Unix 5.4 release - one suggestion
This kbase is being generated to document information received from a
customer regarding his findings on a hang issue he experienced with
3.01 of the Operating System.
The customer noticed that users were hung inside Progress and no new
users were able to gain access. The Progress promon utility indicated
that users were waiting on sempahores. After validating that they had
sufficient semaphores and shared memory segments and maxumem etc....
the customer decided to change sdatlim and hdatlim to their default
settings. These 2 parameters in the kernal control data segments.
Once the customer reduced these back to normal, they no longer
experienced the hang.
If you are experieincing a hang on Unix 5.4 - you may want to check
the above 2 parameters to ensure that they are at the default values.
