Status: Verified
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Startup of the AppServer broker fails with error 8297
Unable to start <service name> (8297)
Error 8297 in cmdplugin.log
CHANGE:
Copied a configured ubroker.properties file from another server
CAUSE:
There is some entry in the current ubroker.properties which is invalid. Typical suspects are the WRKDIR variable and the UUID for the AppServer.
FIX:
Use the ubconfig utility to identify the section of the ubroker.properties file which is not correct:
$ ubconfig -f <full path>/ubroker.properties > ubconf.out
search for any "VALIDATION MESSAGE" or error returned and correct the problem.
Alternatively, copy the ubroker.samples template file to the appropriate location and rename it ubroker.properties, then re-add the ubroker entries through the Progress Explorer tool.
